Art exhibition uses DeDNAed and nanoparticles as inspiration
This summer, the Center for Microtechnologies, in collaboration with Fraunhofer ENAS and the Funken Academy 2023, gave 10 artists an insight into the research field of DNA-based nanotechnology.
The artist duo Carolin Liebl and Nikolas Schmid-Pfähler led the initiative, in which researchers from the Centre for Microtechnologies (ZfM) at the Technical University of Chemnitz accompanied artists through the complex research world of DNA origami, teaching them how to “shape the invisible”.
The scientists involved explained all the steps from the design, development and synthesis of a DNA origami to its deposition and “visualization” of the nano-objects by atomic force microscopy.
The artists then incorporated the impressions they had gathered into their works, which they presented at an exhibition on October 13 in cooperation with the Klub Solitaer on the campus of the Technische Universität Chemnitz.
We at DeDNAed are overwhelmed by the breadth of interpretations and creative ideas that emerged from this collaboration. Congratulations to all the talented artists involved!
